Use This Powerful Tool
Have you ever tried sitting still, with no distractions and focusing on just one thought? It’s a lot harder than it sounds. If you struggle with stress, anxiety or even happiness or sleep, meditation might be the solution. I’m not the most experienced when it comes to meditation, but I wanted to share some of the life-changing benefits that I’ve experienced using it as a daily practice.
What I love about meditating is how simple yet powerful it is. I use it to reduce stress, improve mental clarity and boost my overall feelings of happiness and well-being. Mediation has also helped me have a more positive outlook on life.
Here are some tips to help you get started today:
Find a comfortable position. You can be seated at your kitchen table, on the floor or even lying in bed. Find a comfortable position and remain still for 5-10 minutes.
You don’t have to clear your mind. Clearing your mind is almost impossible. What I like to do is focus on breathing (long inhales, followed by a pause and then a long exhale) or repeating a positive mantra. When a thought enters your mind during your practice, breathe through it and let it go.
Be present. Find a quiet place away from your phone or any distractions and close your eyes. Thinking about each breathe passing through your body or repeating a mantra, is the best way to remain present.
Find what works for you. There are no rules to mediation and each time can feel different. Set a reminder to make it a daily habit.
Wherever you are today or no matter how busy you are, take a few minutes to yourself. Relax and breathe. I guarantee you’ll feel a lot better:)
