Every fitness journey starts with a single, small step. A moment of bold courage bringing you closer to your goal. But how do you get started when your goal seems so far away or you feel like you’re not making progress or maybe you’ve tried and failed in the past? As a personal trainer with 10+ years of experience, and helping hundreds of clients achieve mental and physical transformations, helping people break down the barriers to getting started and taking the first steps towards a healthier and happier life is the most exciting part!
The fitness principles that I teach have a lasting effect on my clients lives and most of these principles can actually be applied outside of fitness in our everyday lives as well. One of these proven principles, and the key to getting started on any goal, is breaking down that goal into the Three S’s (small, simple steps) so you’re not only focusing on the larger goal but rather what steps you can take today. I even used the Three S’s to help start writing this newsletter.
When you use the Three S’s in fitness, you can break down your goal into actionable steps to help you start. It’s surprising how what seems like a small action such as; drinking more water, getting an extra hour of sleep, cooking a healthy meal, going for a walk, doing a 1 minute workout or a small mindset shift like telling yourself “you’re worth it!”, can completely transform how you feel. These small actions help create momentum in the right direction. They build confidence and ultimately bring you closer to your goal. Take a small step today and then repeat tomorrow. Repeat these small steps enough times and soon you’ve formed a new habit!
